Surprisingly, 13 hours in a Sparco race seat isn't too bad. In fact, the Evo 2 is pretty damn comfortable for long drives, even more comfortable than any stock seat I've ever used on a long road trip. It's a damn sight more comfortable than my SRT's seats.Sadly, the seat was the best part of the drive down here; the weather was the worst. Torrential rains plagued me the whole way, and a windshield wiper failure at 70 mph in heavy traffic during the dead of night did little to make things better. Fixing that on the side of the road, in the dark, while semis sprayed me from less than a yard away, frightened me like few things can.
The day dawned cold and rainy, no change from the night before. I rolled in late, registered and tech'd the car, and was advised that 2WD cars couldn't make it on the practice course, so I unloaded some tires, and traded lies with the other 2WD drivers while the AWD guys got all muddy. There are still several inches of standing water in the trunk of my car.
Tomorrow, we start racing...
